Fill your cup
Today is my last day on leave - we’ve arrived home from nearly 2 weeks in the Kgalagadi which is in the Northern Cape in South Africa. It was such an amazing holiday and I’m definitely still in vacation mode.
We saw the most Lions I’ve ever seen as well as a couple of Leopards and Cheetahs (and so many other beautiful wildlife sightings). Spent some time in Nossob rest camp which was such a special experience - I will do a post soon! Also experienced the warmest temperatures - 44 degrees Celsius on the hottest day.
Great sightings, beautiful and comfortable accommodation and delicious food - it was with a heavy heart we said goodbye!
While we were away, my cup filled more and more as our trip unfolded. Waking up to the sounds of nature, sipping coffee on our patio and watching the sun rise. Enjoying the cooler morning breeze before the heat set in. Seeing animals in the wild, taking photos of magical moments, the electric anticipation each time we entered Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park - what will we see today? I felt content with a sense of genuine wellbeing increasing as each special moment filled the days.
Being in nature always fills my cup. So does being creative. I can add reading to the list. Exercise. Time in the garden.
Obviously I cannot be on holiday permanently. There are days there seems no time to workout or indulge my creative side. Times that a cannot-put-down-book sits unread. I don’t spend enough time in the garden especially when work is busy. Sometimes it feels like I have a full diary and empty cup and it was spectacular to spend 2 weeks with this not being the case.
I did alot of thinking while we were away. My 2023 word for the year has been Creative and I have done very little to practice this.
So this month, I’m joining in on #NaBloPoMo which stands for National Blog Posting Month and I’ll be posting once a day for November.
I’m prioritizing something that fills my cup and am rather excited! Thank you to San for the reminder.
I feel like I'm starting the month on a positive and creative note. Here is to a great month!
