Holiday reading

Confession: One of the first things I pack in before a holiday is a book or two. Deciding which to take is quite the decision but once made I’m ready to pack the rest of my essentials like clothing!

I read one book (and quite a bit of a second) while away and thought I’d do a quick book review.

The Couple on cedar close BY anna-lou weatherley

This was such a good thriller!

One afternoon in August at the neighbourhood annual barbeque Laurie finds out that her husband Robert is having an affair. The book moves to 3 months later when Laurie is preparing dinner for Robert who she has not seen since the barbeque He has moved out to be with his mistress and needs to discuss something with Laurie.

Hours later Laurie wakes up covered in blood. Robert has been found dead upstairs and she is the most obvious suspect. Laurie knows she isn’t guilty but nobody believes her and she cannot remember the past few hours.

The book is such a rollercoaster as there are many surprises along the way. Detective Daniel Riley is such a great character - determined to get to the truth of what happened and find who is guilty. He features in a few other books by this Author - this was the first book I’ve read by Anna-Lou Weatherley.

Recommended if you are looking for a thriller with suspense throughout each chapter.
