Overstrand adventure
Last month was hubby’s birthday and we celebrated in Hermanus. We love visiting the Overstrand and even though it was very cold we loved every moment.
We took a days leave so we could leave early on a Friday morning and drive through to De Hoop Nature Reserve which is one of our favourite places to visit.
We arrived to this beautiful weather! Even though it was a crisp morning, the sun was shining and we soaked up some sunshine!
We had breakfast at the Fig Tree restaurant - after a long drive we enjoyed some much needed coffee!
The breakfasts are amazing and made for a great start to our weekend.
After a slow drive through De Hoop we made our way to Hermanus. Did a grocery shop and checked in. Hubby was spoilt with treats from the guesthouse for his birthday!
These were DELICIOUS!
I loved our home away for home for the weekend and quickly unpacked and got comfortable.
We had a relaxing evening. The weather changed and became stormy so we opted not to braai but enjoy comfort food while sipping champagne. The rain poured and wind howled but sitting inside we felt warm and comfortable.
Saturday morning we got up early to rain but didn’t let that stop us! We went back to De Hoop for another stunning breakfast and drove around soaking up nature. It was very cold - winter was in full force but we had a great time.
I’ve always found that being in nature and spending time outdoors seriously fills my cup.
Back in Hermanus we enjoyed the rugby and some snacks. We had made a trip to the mall nearby and I’d stocked up on some books that I read in bed with a cup of tea after dinner.
July had been quite a month - hubby landing up in ER was extremely scary and stressful. We really needed this getaway!
Sunday we had a slow start to the day, packed up and then made our way home. Stopped for a coffee and donut on the way home!
Birthdays are always special and I thoroughly enjoyed hubby’s :)
