Counting blessings in stressful times
This week really flattened me. In all honesty September has been one extremely long month. Whilst I cannot believe we are nearing the end of it - at the same time I cannot remember where it went! Work has been beyond busy and the days have just melted into a long series of deadlines and e-mails.
I’m exhausted to put it mildly.
Add a health scare this past week (hubby is okay but we were extremely worried). We were due to get our 2nd Vaccine this week and thought we had booked (we weren’t booked for the time we assumed). Oh and our geyser acted up meaning a very cold shower the other day.
In a nutshell it was a week and then some. But on the positives, hubby doesn’t have appendicitis, we got our second vaccine and our geyser is fixed. We are having a 3 day weekend and the past 2 days have been filled with relaxed breakfast take out in the car, a lovely drive, gardening and time outdoors.
I looked inside my gratitude journal on Friday and noticed I hadn’t written in it for a while. I keep a little electronic list but have always loved updating an actual notebook. I’ve been focusing on a stressful month and all the things that have been hectic and they have overshadowed some good things. The warmer weather - goodbye winter! Take out in the car. That first cup of tea (or coffee) in the morning. My orchid looking stunning. Time in the garden. Going to see the wild flowers last weekend. Reading in a bubble bath.
As I sip my tea and think of a quiet day ahead without plans or to-do lists I feel grateful and relaxed. This weekend is putting back what this month took out!
What about you? Anything big or small or on your gratitude list today?
xx
