Coffee catch up - February 2020
I haven’t done a coffee chat post in ages! No time like the present right?
I’m currently loving the valentine’s travel cup I got from hubby. We had a great Valentine’s Day on Friday, starting off our weekend with wine and cheese outside. We are making the most of summer and even though we’ve had some super hot days I’m thankful our back garden stays cool in the late afternoons.
I cannot believe how quickly February is going! I’d ask if you’ve also selected a word for the year or made resolutions for 2020. I chose the word mindful and am honest - it has not been easy at times! I’m an overthinker and mulling over nonsense that happened ages is a huge waste of time. Yet a habit I find difficult to break.
At the end of 2019 I joined Instagram and I’m really into it. I’m enjoying it far more than Facebook and find it doesn’t have as much drama and pettiness. I’d ask what your favourite social media platform is right now.
I’d tell you that I’m still thinking about a quote which really stood out for me at the moment. It is from Jim Rohn “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with” and it really gave me alot to think about.
I’m determined that 2020 is the year I put Mark and myself first. And limiting contact with people that cannot be happy for others is a huge step forward. There will always be happiness vampires you cannot avoid completely hence limiting contact. Last year I had a hugely insightful moment where I realised that I’ve had enough of take-only friendships.
Life is too short and I want to surround myself with those who value a positive attitude and are genuine at heart. I am fortunate to have friends and family like this in my life and need to make more time for them and make them a priority. Instead of saying yes to get togethers I don’t enjoy with selfish people.
It is a work in progress!
What about you?
Did you have a great Valentine’s Day?
Do you find it easy to set boundaries or is it a something you need to work at?
