April 2020 recap
I’m linking up with Kristin from http://www.seeyouinaporridge.com/ with a monthly recap.
April was spent entirely in Lockdown - only trips to the supermarket for essentials. We cancelled our Dermatologist appointments that we’d waited ages for, our Easter weekend up the Garden Route and a Hermanus weekend but we made the most of our time at home.
’m spending very little time on FB - I simply do not have the time or the energy for some of the negativity I’ve seen on there. I’m more on Insta and catching up on blogs.
Early April I realised there were some things I was missing and some I most definitely wasn’t. One day I saw a quote that confirmed everything I’d been mulling over for days.
“In the rush to return to normal, use this time to consider which parts of normal are worth rushing back to” Dave Hollis
And there is something that I’m in no rush to do again and that is saying yes to anything or anyone that doesn’t bring joy. Spending time with anyone that pushes my anxiety up so I dread invites but feel unable to say no. Drama. Nastiness when I do say no and the implication that I’m not a good friend because I prioritised those important to me and what brings me happiness.
My husband and family will always come first. My photography and interests and things that bring happiness are also top of my list. I won’t justify that to anyone and I’ll also never be the sort of person that needs to put snarky posts up on FB to get the last word.
So onto the rest of April…
I dug out the flapjack recipe I’d found online a while ago and made good use of it!
I read 3 books and will share the reviews on Tuesday 12th May.
Our Easter weekend was quiet but it was a good weekend. My parents had their 39th wedding anniversary so we spent ages on the phone which was great. Ate alot of chocolate!
I journalled alot and kept my gratitude journal going. I try to make a list of 5 things I’m grateful for and right now I’m filled with thankfulness that Mark and I can work from home. That I have such a great Lockdown Partner who has made this month a good one.
I practiced Yoga and kept my exercise routine going whenever possible. Just light jogging in the back garden and I started doing weights.
We enjoyed loads of brunches. And alot of comfort food like pastas.
We had enjoyable date nights at home. One night we had delicious butter curry.
Mark made lots of braais.
Around the house we got to alot of things we’d been putting off. Mark found a tin of varnish and a paintbrush and was very busy! I decluttered alot. Deep cleaned every room in the house and re-organised all our cupboards, drawers and even the book case.
We continue to work from home until we hear further. At the start of Lockdown I was big into comfort snacks and wearing jim jam days but I quickly got out of the habit. I get dressed everyday and prioritise fitness. I wear my Garmin and love how it reminds me to move and each day I try get my steps in. Not as easy as pre-lockdown but I try.
What about you? What was your April like?
