Oh Sugar!

My name is Anthea and I love sugar.

I’ve had a sweet tooth my whole life. I thought as I got older I might stop eating so many sugary goodies (or at least less often) but I have been proved wrong as I’m 40 and here we are. I’m eating a chocolate muffin as I type this.

Sometimes I tell myself I could have a worse habit. But truth is I know all this sugar isn’t good and I would like to cut down drastically.

About 10 years ago I did give up sugar in my coffee and it was the longest 3 days. Yip - 3 days was the longest I could go drinking my coffee and grimacing. The fact I can remember this so vividly a decade later says alot.

Sugar is so difficult to quit because it causes a surge of the neurotransmitter dopamine after it enters our bodies. I can be having a stressful day and the kick of sugar from a chocolate instantly boosts my energy levels.

As I get older I’m constantly aware I need to start eating healthier and this habit has to go (or be drastically curbed).

I’d love to hear what works for you and what doesn’t. Any advice is welcome!

xx
