5 Things to do on a stressful day

As our days getting busier and diaries fuller, it is easy to watch time get swallowed up in e-mails, to-do lists and tasks.

Last week was a hectically busy week - the days flew and I had to remind myself to take a break at lunchtime (most of the time I didn’t). It felt like there weren’t enough hours in the day and chatting to others, it seems so many of us agree!

I’ve made a list of 5 things that work for me on stressful/busy/is-it-the-weekend-yet days.

Exercise

Anything that gets me outdoors (obviously easier in summer) and breathing fresh air. Reaching for my running shoes - even if it is just to take a walk really helps declutter my mind.

Prioritise creativity

Setting aside some time to do something creative always makes me happy. Taking photos, doing some creative writing, updating my journal or scrapbooking can be very soothing.

List 5 things you are grateful for

Can be big or small. Right now I’m grateful for a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner at home last night, a clean house, good coffee, the birds singing outside and some new plants we bought over the weekend.

clean/organise/tidy SOMETHING

Sometimes seeing an instant result (a vacuumed room, empty laundry basket or tidied drawers) makes a huge difference when you are feeling frazzled.

Have something to look forward to

It can be the book you’ve been trying to finish reading. A favourite dinner you are going to enjoy this evening or fun weekend plans.

Having something to look forward to always brightens up a stressful day.

What about you? How do you de-stress after a long day?

xx
