Winter 2020

It is very cold in Cape Town at the moment, we’ve just had a major cold front this week and loads of rain, with another one is on its way. Seasons changing have a way of reminding one how time is passing. I used to make myself a winter bucket list but this year is my first winter in lockdown. I’ve missed our planned trips big time and Mark has missed getting photos of waterfalls but we are making the most of the season at home.

So while this year I don’t have a winter bucket list I do have a winter joy list of things that are making this time more comfortable while the temperatures fall.

The way coffee (or tea) just tastes SO good in cold weather. I swear the first cup of coffee I have in the mornings tastes like happiness.

Slow breakfasts on the weekend with nowhere to rush off to. I love eating out but these days we’ve been cooking so much at home and enjoying it.

Hot chocolate (with marshmallows) a treat anytime of the year but just more enjoyable on a chilly afternoon with the rain pouring outside.

Enjoying my favourite scented candles.

Hot showers and how it instantly defrosts you after a cold day.

Warm jim jams. I love pajamas and when they are just out of the tumble dryer they feel so good.

Butter chicken for supper on a cold evening.

Snuggling on the couch with my love under blankets. Catching up our favourite shows on our comfy sofa is one of my favourite places to be right now.

Tea in bed with a book. Wearing my favourite winter jim jams and reading under our winter duvet - bliss.

Baking or making flapjacks on a cold, rainy Sunday afternoon and filling the kitchen with delicious aromas.

Falling asleep listening to the rain.

What makes you happy in the season you are currently in?
