March 2020 recap

Hello April!

I’ll be honest folks, March was not my favourite month. I feel like February spoilt me so much with an awesome birthday (celebrating over two weekends) and a trip to Sun City and March was just like a super long Monday without a glass of wine at the end of it.

Still I’m determined to be positive and March had some good stuff I need to focus on.

Highlights include:

Seeing my parents and sister for a lunch before things were hectic and well before we went into a 21 day lockdown. We went to have lunch with them and it was a wonderful and spontaneous day trip. It feels like a lifetime ago when it fact it was a few weeks back.

Seeing my in-laws the next day. We went to have tea and cake by them.

Being able to work from home before the lockdown. In a way I was able to get into a routine early. Mark had been working from home since mid March and I’m grateful my boss let me stay home and work remotely.

We finished the garden project and I’m loving our garden. We used to have a little fence in front of the bushes and plants. Mark removed the fence and then we lifted some tiles and laid the stonework which I’m so happy with. Just as well as we are at home 24/7 right now and I love looking outside and seeing our completed project.

We had loads of braais which passed the time quite nicely.

I did some serious decluttering and tidying up. Our home has never been more clean and organised! I love how my cosmetics are so neat and tidy!

We cancelled a weekend to Hermanus and our Easter getaway which was going to be up the Garden Route. We cancelled before the lockdown because we knew travelling was not a responsible choice. In a way being proactive and doing what what was right has made me feel a little more in control of a hectic situation.

We are into our routines now. Lockdown started midnight Thursday 26th March for us and I haven’t been out the house since the middle of last week. Mark has been doing our grocery shopping so the risk of being exposed to the Corona Virus is halved. I really appreciate this but feel so guilty that he has to go out for food. Some days fly by as we are busy with work and I’ve set up my home office in the kitchen, Mark gets the study as he has loads of meetings he has to dial into. We start our work day normal time but it is nice to sleep a little later and not have to drive to the office. After a cup of tea, we log in and so the morning begins. Mark is a great co-worker and makes the best toast and coffee :) We usually work longer than when we were at the office and rarely take lunch but working remotely takes getting used to. Then in the evenings we take our time making supper, chill in the lounge and watch tv before getting a good nights sleep. Weekends mean sleeping later, tea in bed, reading a bit, pottering around the house and a braai in the evenings.

That was my March. How was yours?
