Home spa pampering!
We are going into week five of lockdown here in South Africa and my last visit to a spa feels like ages ago!
I love having my nails done and so I decided one afternoon to make myself a home spa and indulge in some pampering and self-care.
So you might have guessed that I’m a huge Morgan Taylor fan! I adore their nail polish range as it is long wearing and they are always bringing out new and funky shades with each season.
Lets start the home spa experience with removing old nail polish. I use Sorbet range and it is conveniently packaged in a salon pump.
Cut / trim and shape your nails to the length you prefer.
Fill a bowl with warm soapy water and soak your hands for a few minutes.
Exfoliate gently. I use the Milk range from Woolworths. Rinse your hands and dry them.
Moisturise your hands using a rich hand lotion. I’ve shown two of my favourites here. A honey lotion from Rain and a nail and cuticle treatment from Sorbet. Both smell amazing and uplift tired, dry hands instantly.
Wipe nails with a cotton swab after you’ve moisturised your hands to wipe excess lotion off your nails.
Apply a base coat if you like. I use the Lavendar Base coat by Biosculpture because it protects my nails. You’ll see the index finger on my right hand is split and damaged (excessive hand washing and neglecting to moisurise daily)!
I chose to treat myself to some nail art so I chose two nail polishes.
Paint your nails and wait for them to dry before applying a second coat. The method I use is a stripe down the middle of the nail, then a stripe on either side.
Once your nail polish is dry, take the second polish and start your nail art. I chose to do hearts and I’ll show you how.
Simply draw a line at an angle.
Now draw a second one and make them meet in the middle.
You can size your hearts however you like them.
Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and sit quietly enjoying your home spa experience.
And there you have it! A spa pampering session without leaving the house!
I’ve taken a pic of my home spa essentials.
A top coat will make your manicure last longer and helps with chipping. I only apply mine hours after my nail art has dried. Even then I use the brush as lightly as possible and only go over each nail section once.
The cuticle MD pictured is perfect for damaged nails. I use a drop around cuticle and just let it soak in for a few minutes when needed.
This is not a sponsored post, I’m not affiliated with any of these products.
