December recap

Yes I know we have less than a week left of January but I’ve been wanting to do a December recap since I got back from leave.

I put the Christmas tree up on the 1st December as is our tradition. Our home looked lovely all decorated and I felt a bit more festive after taking out the Christmas CD’s.

We visited Bird Island in Lamberts Bay early December to see the Gannets. We were the only ones in the Bird Hide and spent a while photographing these beautiful birds. For my birthday last year hubby bought me my dream camera and it was lovely to use after so long in lockdown!

That evening we stayed at my favourite guest house up the West Coast - Harrison’s House. The weather was perfect to sit and relax by the pool.

Soon it was time for us to go on leave and we celebrated our 14 year anniversary! Time flies when you are having fun!

We spent our special day and Christmas in Hermanus which I’d been looking forward to for ages!

We visited De Hoop Nature Reserve and had an anniversary breakfast there one morning. With Lockdown we haven’t been eating out (take aways only) so it felt like such a treat. They had a decorated tree in the restaurant.

Christmas day, we had a delicious gammon, roast potatoes and vegetables and it was a great day. And yes, this is why I pack in decorations when going on holiday :) I love to make our table festive!

After our Christmas lunch we had a chilled evening and then went to De Kelders. The sunsets there are always so pretty.

We did a morning walk in Rooi Els the one day and got to see 5 Cape Rock Jumpers - sadly no pics to show! Hubby got a photo of this amazing Agama Lizard which just sat and soaked up the sun while we walked past!

New Years we usually spend at home with a braai but decided to do something different this year. We spent a long weekend back up the West Coast at Harrison’s House. We were able to get a booking and it was a fabulous way to end 2020.

We went to Charlies Brewery in Port Owen the one evening and I had to take a pic of their milkshakes!

Each morning at Harrison’s House we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast.

As we counted down the New Year I felt a rush of emotion after a year like 2020. But the strongest emotion was hope. I truly hope this year is a good one for everyone.
