July recap - what is new with you?
Today is the first Thursday of the month, which means doing a monthly recap while I link up with the lovely Kirsten from

July was an awesome month - Mark's birthday, lots of fun in Hermanus and we had so much rain that our dam levels are better than they were in 2015!
We visited Hermanus a couple of times and enjoyed breakfasts at a restaurant called Puzzles. Their menu is great and they have TV's all over which is awesome when the rugby was on this past Saturday!
This cappucchino was SO needed after an early start one cold morning.
Tapas was an old favourite of ours in Hermanus and they were bought by the Burgundy restaurant which redecorated and brought out a new menu. We enjoyed visiting them a few times in July.
Mark's birthday weekend was my favourite part of July. We drove through early one Friday morning and went to Arniston for early morning photography. It was freezing on the way and a bit misty but we were thrilled we'd made the effort because we got to see a beautiful sunrise.
That is hubby on the rocks getting ready to take his photos.
I loved the early morning sunlight and the way it highlighted the sand and rocks. It was such a beautiful start to our weekend. We drove back to Hermanus, had a delicious breakfast at Puzzles, went to do some shopping and checked in. The guesthouse put up a birthday sign which I thought was such a thoughtful touch.
We enjoyed rugby, leisurely breakfasts, drinks and snacks and lots of chilling out, just the two of us. Tapas had live music the one afternoon which was great.
I tried the chilli poppers and oh my goodness they are the BEST chili poppers I've ever had! Cannot wait to go back and order more.
Hubby loved his pressies - he knew what his bigger gifts were so I surprised him with some random goodies I knew he'd like. My Gran always did this - no matter what your proper gift was she always wrapped up something as a special surprise. I like to think my Ouma is looking down and approving of these little gestures that she passed on to me.
Other than that July was cold and rainy. Work was busy and kept me out of mischief. I didn't get to gym and yoga as much as I'd like to. I did some creative writing as well as the feature writing and sent in another article to CMIYC. I have some ideas about what I'd like to write about - just need to set aside time and get stuck in. I read lots - 4 books and enjoyed 3 of them :)
That was my July.
How was yours?
